Relay Active was founded and is owned by Ann Mazur in Charlottesville, Virginia. Ann is our lead activewear designer and runs the day-to-day operations of the brand. Relay Active is 100% woman-owned, independently grown, and built without outside investors.
Ann is a 2020 Olympic Trials marathoner who loves racing everything from the mile to 26.2. Her own training unorthodoxly combines running, swimming, and yoga, and it shapes how she approaches every design: she is especially passionate about soft fabrics, bold color combinations (and tie-dye!), genuinely useful pockets, and sports bras that are supportive and comfortable.
Her interest in running apparel goes back to her high school cross-country days, when she often wore denim shorts with a red drawstring to practice because no better options existed. A Pittsburgh native, Ann also loves finding ways to name Relay Active pieces after her hometown.
Ann studied English and math at Notre Dame and founded Runners Love Yoga while earning her Ph.D. in English at UVA. She continues to teach yoga and Pilates and build movement-centered community through Relay Active’s Charlottesville studio.
Phillip Robb, Ann’s husband, is design lead of the Relay Active custom program. He has designed custom cycling kits for teams around the world since 2009 and brings more than 15 years of apparel design, technical-fabric, and graphic-design experience to Relay Active. He also maintains a yearly tradition of running one mile on the track in under six minutes on extremely minimal run training—much to Ann’s dismay.
Ann and Phillip are proud cat parents to Boo Boo, Butters, Little Nuggie, Koozie, and Gio. Their five adopted cats first inspired Relay Active’s commitment to animal rescue.

So far, our classes have helped 46 kittens find homes, and we have personally fostered 60 kittens ourselves.
We also donate 50% of every Move with Purpose Bundle purchase to Cat Action Team, sponsor one of Cat Action Team’s community cat colonies, and support other local animal-rescue events and initiatives throughout the year.
